Sat., Feb. 27, 2010 (9:51pm)I started taking my photos outside and that sure has helped. Also, I use the macro setting for a lot of it. Don't be afraid to use the contrast option in your photo editor too. turn it up!

Fri., Jan. 29, 2010 (9:43am)Hello,
I am a photographer & I would like to give some tips to those artist wanting to photograph their artwork without access to a photo studio or high end DSLR.
1. Use a tripod!
2. Set your camera to "available light" and try to have an even amount of natural light (window light, shade/sunlight). Also shoot in a white room, this will allow the light to bounce around, and there won't be a distracting background.
3. Do not fire a flash directly at the painting! Try to re-direct the light up to the ceiling to bounce off and fall over the painting. a small mirror can be used for this at a 45 degree angle.
4. Try the different settings on your camera, experiment to achieve a desired effect.
5. Crop the final image (if you have the software to).
6. Hire me to take the photo for you ;)
I hope some of these tips are useful, good luck!

Common imperfections:
- Reflection of the flash light;
- Blurry or too dark if the flash light is off;
- Picture taken at an angle instead of straight on;
- Too much background (e.g. the wall behind the painting);
